Senator Garvin Simonette

Mr. Garvin Simonette first entered Parliament as a Temporary Government Senator during the 11th Republican Parliament until being appointed Government Senator on September 28, 2018.

 

Mr. Simonette is an attorney-at-law who was called to the Bar at Gray’s Inn, London in 1998 and is a law graduate of the University of the West Indies. He also holds an LLM from the University of London. He is admitted to practice in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

 

Mr. Simonette practiced as a commercial lawyer in both contentious and non-contentious matters in England (1987-1994) and acted for both major private sector companies and inward investors to the Caribbean as well as Government entities.

 

Mr. Simonette appeared as Counsel in both the High Court and the Court of Appeal and has conducted major commercial arbitrations. He has also appeared as independent legal expert witness on Trinidad and Tobago company/commercial and taxation law in the Texas Courts.
