The Honourable Dr. Delmon Baker
Dr. Delmon Baker was first elected to the House of Representatives on Monday March 24, 2010, representing the constituency of Tobago West. He was appointed Minister in the Ministry of Tourism on May 28, 2010.
Dr. Baker was educated at Sarah’s Preschool, Mt. Gomery Government School, Scarborough Secondary School and Signal Hill Senior Comprehensive. He was his Class Valedictorian in 1994 and the winner of several scholastic awards including a National Scholarship to study medicine at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.
In 2003, he graduated with a B.Sc. Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) with honours in Neurosciences and Behavior. He is fully registered with the Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago and is trained in Advanced Trauma and Life Support. Dr. Baker has taught at the Bishop’s High School, Signal Hill Secondary School and the Harmon School of Seventh Day Adventists (SDA). He most recently worked as a Primary Care Physician serving the communities of Scarborough, Buccoo and Bethel. In addition, he participated in the Commonwealth Youth Ministers Conference held in Trinidad and represented Botswana as the Liaison Officer of the Government Ministries of Sport and Youth Affairs.
Dr. Baker has served as a Youth Leader in the Bethel SDA church and was one of the youngest elders of the Bethel and Morvant SDA churches. He has served as the Youth Development Officer of the Bethel Credit Union and is the Vice President of the Adventist Health Professional Association.
