Mr. Davendranath Tancoo was elected Member for Fyzabad and appointed Minister of Finance in the 13th Republican Parliament (2025). On May 15, 2025, he was assigned the additional portfolio of Minister in the Ministry of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development.

Mr. Tancoo first entered Parliament as the elected Member of Parliament for Oropouche West in the 12th Republican Parliament (2020).

Mr. Tancoo is a former Chief Economist in the Office of the Leader of the Opposition, under Basdeo Panday and the Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar. He also served as Adviser to the Prime Minister from 2010 to 2015.

Previously, Mr. Tancoo worked at the Ministry of Education and the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Legal Affairs.
