On December 17, 2007, Mr. Danny Montano was elected President of the Senate of the Ninth Parliament of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. A Chartered Accountant by profession, Senator Montano first entered Parliament as an Opposition Senator in the 5th Parliament (1995-2000). He again was appointed a Senator in the 6th, 7th and 8th Parliaments.

During the 7th and 8th Parliaments Senator Montano served in several Ministerial capacities, including Housing, Science, Technology and Tertiary Education, Legal Affairs and Labour, Small and Micro-Enterprise Development.

Mr. Montano is a second generation politician in that he is the son of Gerard Montano, who himself served as a Cabinet Minister and was the Member for San Fernando East from 1961 to 1971.

Mr. Montano is married to Rosemonde Montano.
