Ms. Alicia Hospedales first became a Member of Parliament in 2007 when she contested and won the Arouca/Maloney seat in November of 2007 as a Member of the People's National Movement (PNM). She was appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Social Development.

Ms. Hospedales was again successful in winning the seat following the General Elections of Monday May 24, 2010.
