Mrs. Baptiste Primus was appointed a Senator and Minister of Labour and Small Enterprise Development on Friday September 11, 2015.

Mrs. Baptiste Primus is a graduate of the Cipriani College of Labour & Co-operatives (CCLC) earning a Diploma in Labour Studies in 1984. She later attended the American Institute for Free Labor Development, where she obtained a certificate in Strategic Trade Union Action (1996). In 1997, she was a recipient of training by the Public Service International where she was awarded a certificate in Strategic Planning. Mrs. Baptiste Primus has also trained at the George Meany College, U.S.A. in industrial relations, leadership in trade unions, trade union organisation and succession planning. In addition, she is trained and experienced in Human Resource Management, Business Management, Occupational Health & Safety and Conflict Resolution.

From 1985-2009, Mrs. Baptiste Primus was the longest performing elected officer of the PSA since the introduction of the one man - one vote system in 1981. She was first elected Assistant Secretary in 1985 with direct responsibility for industrial relations matters and grievances and moved up the ranks to retire as Executive President in November, 2009. Additionally, she functioned as President of the Caribbean PSA (CPSA) in 2001.

Mrs. Baptiste Primus is married to Mr. Gaston Primus and has two children.
