The Speaker granted leave of absence to the Member for Tabaquite (today), the Member for Mayaro (May 11-18) and the Member for Tobago East (today).

The Minister of Education made a statement to update the House about the decision taken to exclude question 35 from the Mathematics paper of the recently held Secondary Entrance Assessment.
The Speaker moved that a Bill entitled, An Act for the Incorporation of the Holy Name Convent Past Pupils’ Association and for matters incidental thereto, be read a first time.
The Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and the Economy moved the second reading of the Sugar Industry Control Board (Repeal)(Validation) Bill, 2013. The Member for Diego Martin Nort/East was first to enter the debate, followed by the Minister of Tourism, the Leader of the Opposition, the Minister of Education and the Member for Diego Martin Central. The Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and the Economy then rose to conclude. Debate on the Bill was suspended.
At the next sitting debate is expected to begin on a Private Motion by the Leader of the Opposition. The sitting ended at 6:30 p.m.
