Leave of Absence and replacement on Committee of Privileges

The Speaker granted leave of absence to the Member for D’Abadie/O’Meara (12-14 June), St. Ann’s East (8-19 June), Caroni East (today), Chaguanas West (today), St. Augustine (12-25 June) and Oropouche West (today). The Speaker also announced that Mr. Subhas Panday would replace Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar on the Committee of Privileges whenever the matter involving Mrs. Persad-Bissessar was being considered.

Government Business: Motions
The Elections and Boundaries Commission (Local Government) Order, 2009

The Minister of Local Government moved a Motion which asks the House to approve the draft of the Elections and Boundaries Commission (Local Government) Order, 2009. Seven members made contributions before the Minister rose to conclude the debate. The Motion was approved subject to an amendment.

Matter On The Adjournment
Security Cameras in Chaguanas

The Member for Caroni Central raised as a Matter on the Motion for the Adjournment of the House, “The failure of the government to install security cameras in Chaguanas in order to curb the high level of criminal activities in that area.” The Minister of State in the Ministry of National Security responded.

Failure to repair roads in Cumuto/Manzanilla

The Member for Cumuto/Manzanilla then raised the issue of “the failure of the Government to rehabilitate, repair and repave the St. Marie Emmanuel Road in Cumuto; the North Oropouche Road; the Fishing Pond Road and the Guaico/Tamana Road.” The Minister of Works and Transport responded.
