The Vice-President granted granted leave of absence to Sen. the Hon. Dr. Emily Gaynor Dick-Forde and Sen. the Hon. Tina Gronlund-Nunez, who were out of country. Mr. Noel Gayle and Mr. Joel Primus were appointed temporarily to the Senate to replace Senators Dick-Forde and Gronlund-Nunez respectively.
The Bill, which was passed in the House of Representatives on Monday May 26, 2008 was read a first time in the Senate. The Minister in the Ministry of Finance moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings.
Two Papers were laid, one in the name of the Minister in the Ministry of Finance and the other in the name of the Minister of Local Government. See the Order Paper for details.

Debate began on the Finance (Supplementation and Variation of Appropriation) Bill, 2008, which was debated in the House of Representatives on Monday 26th May, 2008. Following the Minister in the Ministry of Finance (Sen. the Hon. Mariano Browne), a total of 18 Senators spoke on the Bill, including maiden contributions from Sen. Wesley George and Sen. Joel Primus. The Bill was later read a third time and passed.
The Senate adjourned to Tuesday June 3, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. At its next sitting the Senate will consider Private Business, specifically a Private Motion by Senator wade Mark on standards and regulations for the Private Security Industry. The Senate adjourned at 2:42 a.m. on Wednesday May 28, 2008.
